Memberships and Benefits

As a member of FWS you are a member in

-SKjL Union of Finnish Art Associations,

-ECWS European Confederation of Watercolour Societies,

-AKVART gallery cooperative,



SKjL benefits

  • You can submit works of art into SKjL exhibitions.
  • SKjL consults in questions relating to everyday problems in the artistic life.
  • Aspan ateljee in Karjalohja is available for working and holidays. Contact the SKjL office for bookings.
  • The membership card entitles you to free or reduced admission to museums. This varies.
  • TAIDE magazine. Through your own Society you can subscribe to TAIDE magazine at a good price.
  • Artist’s supplies. The membership  card gives you a 20% reduction for normal priced artists supplies in Farbe Oy, at Kaapelitehdas, Tallberginkatu 1 C, 2nd floor. Also other artist’s supplies shops have reductions

ECWS benefits

You get to submit your paintings in the annual exhibition held  in connection with the Watercolour Symposium in held in turn by one of the 14 members societies of the Confederation.

AKVART benefits

You get a special rate for holding an exhibition in AKVART. An even better rate you get if you join the cooperative: If you wish to have invitations of AKVART exhibitions sent to your email, please let the gallery know

In addition to these

You get a newsletter three, four times a year. In Finnish. This gives you a chance to practice your Finnish.

Life Art Oy, 10 % on framing and picture hanging systems
Diverse artist’s supplies, 10 %
Taidekeskus Järvilinna, artist’s residence
Taidetarvike Flyktman, 10 % on artist’s supplies
Itäisenkadun Kehystämö, 10 % on framing
Frimodig Kehys Oy, 10 % on framing
Sälekarin kirjapaino Oy, 10 % on printing jobs

Many of these companies also sell on-line. In order for them to be able to establish your membership it might be a good idea to put something in the membership register.
